Jo Shen is a Chinese-American director and producer based in Philadelphia, whose work quietly illuminates the overlooked moments of life, inviting us to reflect on the delicate, unspoken threads that define a life fully lived. Her films often explore themes of self-discovery and growth, bringing forward the nuanced, character-driven stories of the BIPOC community and women.

As Creative Director at Maestro Filmworks, Jo has developed an impressive portfolio of commercial and documentary projects, always focusing on the human element. Notable works include the Tribeca-selected docu-series Taking Root: Southeast Asian Resettlement Stories and the featurette For The Win (FTW) Philly, which was featured on NBC. Jo’s storytelling, steeped in subtlety and depth, has earned her two Emmy Awards for directing—a testament to her ability to uncover beauty and meaning in the everyday.
